Sometimes opportunity knocks and one has to act with great speed and without reservations. In this case there was a need to visit the Doctor and the outcome of the visit was a nice recipe for a new Jazzinvaders album. The Doctor being none other then the wonderful Dr Lonnie Smith, King of the Hammond Sound and star of the early Blue Note label. Het is inmiddels al weer een maand geleden dat The Jazzinvaders niemand minder dan Dr. Lonnie Smith te gast hadden tijdens hun optreden op het Big Rivers festival in Dordrecht. Een te gekke ervaring voor de band maar ook voor Dr. Lonnie zo bleek. Nu wil het toeval dat de beste man komende week weer in Nederland is en hij het zo leuk vond om te doen dat ie graag nogmaals met The Jazzinvaders het podium op gaat. Zo’n kans laat de band natuurlijk niet lopen vandaar dat – na snel wat rondbellen – er ineens een last-minute concert gepland is in de hipste jazzclub van Rotterdam: Bird. Continue reading

Op zondag 15 juli a.s. – tijdens het Big Rivers festival – mag Dordrecht zich opmaken voor de komst van een van ‘s werelds grootste nog actieve Jazz iconen: Dr. Lonnie Smith. Op het Jazz podium bij het Stadhuis zal deze levende legende het Big Rivers festival 2012 op gepaste wijze afsluiten. Recording new album
It will take a little while but you should know that recently The Jazzinvaders started recording their fourth album. As always, The Jazzinvaders are keen to explore new musical territories so at this moment in time, it is kinda hard to tell which direction they’ll be heading. One thing is for sure, the boys and girl are enjoying the process to the fullest and will come up with some great harmonies, grooves and lovely melody-lines which, put together will be a feast for the listener once more!
