“Find The Love” is the latest release from the six member ensemble from the Netherlands from as The Jazz Invaders. Their ten track disc is smoothed out soul jazz layered with warm harmonies and solid horn arrangements layered over Disco rhythms. “Disco Fever” is a soft mid-tempo boogie tune sprinkled with Linda Bloemhard’s sweetened vocals. The title track starts out with a bit of funky fusion flavor before seguing into mellow soul. “Much Rosie”, the only instrumental showcases sweet horn soloing and organ rhythms. Overall this is a pleasant journey to the land of eighties flavored Disco grooves, no doubt you’ll enjoy the ride. – Reg Dancy 06/16 Continue reading

Hammond B-3 jazz legend and Netherlands nu-jazz combo team up on uptempo record
During the summer of 2012, Netherlands nu-jazz superteam The Jazzinvaders teamed up with Hammond B3 legend Lonnie Smith to concoct one unusually spontaneous album. New material was literally developed in the stroke of hours, and in a matter of days they were complete. The album’s title, That’s What You Say!, borrows a common phrase used by Smith. Regardless of the term’s ambiguous meaning, it’s a cool hip marquee for what envelops on the inside. It puts the old pro in the company of a versatile jazz outfit led by producer and band drummer Phil Martin (aka Timothy van der Holst). He’s also surrounded around enough danceable funk that’s certain to take more than a few wrinkles from above his brow. On the album’s opener, there’s a rollicking dance floor rumble akin to the percussion preludes of “Hey Pachuco” before it dips into Yellowjackets funk. “No Cure” plays with lines from Diana Ross’s “Love Hangover.” Further along the journey, “Song for Lonnie” – teased as a musical tribute to the band’s guest of honor – employs a dazzling array of New Orleans horns, while “Buzzin’” flaunts with sneaky vocal echoes and smoldering “you” chants bearing the equivalence of Two Tons o’ Fun on Sylvester’s dance floor hit, “I Need You.” Continue reading
The Jazzinvaders op IJFE 2013 – Ton Ouwehand
The Jazzinvaders.
Continue reading
Dr. Lonnie Smith & the Jazzinvaders – Tineke Klamer 3voor12
Dusty Groove
The Jazz Invaders here are tighter than ever – and not just because they’ve got some heavy Hammond help from the legendary Lonnie Smith! Smith’s definitely a key part of what makes this album so great – and his organ lines have a sharpness and depth that really stands out from the rest of the group – kind of an extra level of sound that really makes the whole thing sparkle! Yet the group themselves are pretty wonderful too – much more righteous than ever before, going past just a combo who can copy the best jazz modes, into the realm of one that’s more than capable of making some mighty fresh sounds of their own. Linda Bloemhard sings on a few cuts, with this raspy edge that’s pretty cool – but the instrumental push is what really makes the record shine. Titles include “Square Blues”, “Little Sunflower”, “Buzzin”, “Song For Lonnie”, “Tastich”, “Nelson”, “Mellow Mood”, and “Tie Am”.
